Catch me like a cold.

I love those little bitches who you think are your friends and then turn around and stab you in the back.

That's immediently what I thought when I first started reading magazines.

Personally, I thought I'd be opening up mini-fashion bibles when I started reading Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Elle, etc. But then I realized that half of them end up just being half fashion, half other random stuff, and half celebrity gossip. And yes, these magazines do have three halves. I was a little disappointed with this, because really. I want to see fashion on the covers of these magazines, not a bunch of celebrity women trying to make themselves sound good during the interviews.

Is that really all that fashion is now? Something to wear on the red carpet? Yes? No? Because I was under the impression that it was supposed to have to do with the whole 'self expression' mumbo-jumbo. Wearable art, that can interperted by whomever and translated into their own style. But now it's just become a mosh pit of which celebrity is wearing whose clothes, and whether or not it flatters their Photoshopped and airbrushed bodies. Because that wasn't what I originally thought.

Alright, that's enough with my ranty ranty time. Now I'm going to browse through photographs of Christian Dior (bye bye, Galliano) and Malandrino's Fall collections, because they make me happy.

I'm planning on getting back into this blog, so stay tuned for updates.

How to shoot at someone who outdrew you

Hehe, I'm feeling a little ashamed about the fact that I haven't posted on this blog in months. MONTHS, I say. I would apologize, but due to the absense of posts, there has also been an absense of readers! How embarrassing.

Already it's July! Oh, dear, dear me. That means that summer vacation is a third of the way over. But since it's Wisconsin, the good weather didn't actually start until, like, yesterday. And of course, my parents are freaking about me (their oldest child) to go to high school. Then, as I predicted, they gave me this whole lecture on how it is great that I care about how I dress, but chances are there won't be a huge fan base of looking like you actually looked in a mirror that morning. I told them about the sweat-pant epidemic, and they immediantely joined me on the dark side.

Now, one of my less-fashionable friends (who believes that wearing a P!ATD shirt is original, asked me a little while ago, 'Amy, how do you dress the way you do? Like, how do you come up with outfits?' Well, that's an excellent question, my loves. How do you come up with a perfectly posh outfit, fit for only a chic woman (or man), or a Karl Lagerfeld devotee? This is an issue I will delve into next post, as we go through how I personally assemble outfits and transition them to the different seasons. Featured; vintage elbow length gloves, Free People wool coats, Betsey Johnson herringbone tights, and mint green dresses. Gotta love it.

All for now, loves.

Reruns become our history

Well. It's snowing. Again. Grrr, says I. Grr.

Anyway. I'm so insanely excited about Fall 2011! I'm going through some of the collections on Style.com, and I'm veeeery impressed. Hopefully I'll have a review or two posted by the end of the week.

I was a little angry, cuz I had to wake up early this morning to take entry testing for honors classes next year... Ewie. On the bright side, however, I'm going to Florida next week and shopppppping today. Oh, yeah. It's sort of depressing, I haven't been shopping in weeks!

Also. And interesting tidbit. We have to do this dance for graduation, and this is the video we are being taught with.

Afraid? You should be.

Just a little preview for the upcoming posts; I plan to be doing reviews on Diane von Furstenberg, Y-3, Malandrino, Alexander Wu, Tommy Hilfiger, Bogetta Veneta, and a few more, including Alexander McQueen when the show gets on Style.com.

All for now.

No name face

As you may or may not have noticed, this page has gone under a name/URL change. I figured it was time for a change of name, change of pace. Plus, I really enjoyed the picture that is now the title of this page.

Shopping today! I'm one of those people who gets so excited about their recent purchase, that they just swap what they are already wearing to what they just bought. Sometimes it just looks like a few different outfits attacked you, but today it actually worked.

Purchases of the day: Calvin Klein black fedora, and black jacket with ribbing details.

I was wearing a pair of black Urban Vibe super skinny jeans, black Betsey Johnson tights, grey Franco Sarto t-straps, my favorite floral Free People baby doll top, my usual outerclothes (grey abercombie down jacket, black and white knit Dolce and Gabbana scarf, plus my Coach purse), and my jewelry (silver and diamond ring from Kessler's Diamons, silver charm bracelet, silver Love 21 layered chain necklace). Just threw on the hat, and swapped out my bulky winter coat with the warm (but less bulky) jacket, and I was ready to go. It actually didn't look too horrible. Except, after three hours of walking around the outlet mall, I was hobbling in that my-shoes-are-killing me antifashion.

I also got my February 2011 issue of Vogue, and was happy to see some previews of Fall 2011 collections in the 'Gangs of New York' article. I have to see, I'm eager see what Ralph Lauren, Rodarte, and Proenza Schouler will be sending down the run way after seeing the 14 page spread featuring seven different designers, including Marc Jacobs and DKNY. Ralph Lauren's was definitely my favorite, with the lovely Victorian ruffles, lace, and crocheted dresses. Very romantic. I wanted to pick my good ol' copy of Pride and Prejudice.

Brava to Mario Testino, the photographer of these pictures, and stylist Grace Coddington! And, course, the designers. Can't wait to see what other great pieces are in their collections.

Tell me your secrets

My entire life I’ve been afraid of loss
Not actually losing something
But that feeling in your chest you get when something is wrong
When something is
Missing
Do you know it?
I don’t know when I first had that feeling
But as long as I can remember I’ve feared it
Through the years I’ve found the best way to avoid the feeling
Is to keep moving
To leave it behind before
It
Can
Hurt
You
So
I became flyaway girl
I flew fast enough that the feeling couldn’t catch me
But then I met you
You were something I’d never encountered
Ever before in my flights
And I found that we had some things in common
Every waking hour you were on my mind
Why?
You
Fascinated
Me
So
I shed my wings
I didn’t want to run away
From you
But eventually, I had to grow those wings back
Not to run from you, but the
Thoughts
Feelings
Rumors
And
Lies
That followed your name like a shadow
At some point I stopped shedding my wings

And you became almost as dangerous as your name
I never meant to hurt you, see
But I’m flyaway girl
That’s what I do.

Don't Forget the Lyrics

Jeez, I've been bad with this lately.

Recently, I've been saving up for some cute new stuff, but I can't decide what to get! Well, saving up for me really means not buying anything for a few weeks... But, hey, $150 can go a long way!

But figuring out what I'm going to buy is the least of my problems. Just this past week, I was assigned a project in school titled 'National History Day.' Intimidating title, huh? But it's a huuuge deal at my school. I was paired for with my friend Jess, and we have chosen the topic of mistreatment of patients in asylums. Fitting, isn't it? But it's a huuuuuge project. Just the research is supposed to take three weeks. Mehhhh. So, in honor of that, all of the 'inspiration photos' for today will be dark and creepy. Yay!

Yokohama prostitues, dead roses, Claddagh costume, and lonely scene.

Later.
